30 Day Coloring Challenge Day 26 - Bugaboo Poppi Cocoa

     Today I colored an image from Stampalicious called Bugaboo Poppi Cocoa.  The Penguin is so cute.  I used Copic markers then some glossy accents for his nose and the berries on the Holly and I used clear Wink of Stella on the straw, marshmallows, cap, holly leaves, mug and the white parts of the Penguin.  I shimmered almost everything!  I have purchased digital images from Bugaboo stamps before but this was a clear stamp.  (I REALLY need to make a light box of some sort.  Even with natural sunlight I get shadows.)

     I also made a card for my daughter to give to her doctor.  She is almost 18 and will need to stop seeing her pediatric doctors.  We are giving her doctor a starbucks gift card along with this card that has an image of a teacup.

     I got the dimensional teacup sticker from a dollar store a year or two ago so I don't remember who makes it.  I also used some washi tape and heat embossed the sentiment.

     The front of the card is shorter than the back of the card and it is an odd size.  I may need to make an envelope for it because my daughter won't want to give it without one.

     I somehow managed to get some pink ink on the back of the card.  Oh my.  Stuff like that happens all the time.  Fortunately I found some designer paper that coordinates with the pink stamped swirls on the front and I was able to completely cover the back and make it look intentional.  That was a first for me.  Paper on the BACK of a card.   And again - overexposed photo in spots and shadows on other parts of the card.........

My Daughter's 17th Birthday Card

     My daughter likes black and white cards, and cats.  She loves cats.  Did I say she loves cats?

Don't Throw Your Flubs Away

     I just salvaged a card front that I didn't like.  I made a background that I liked but the gold sentiment I stamped on it was crooked and ruined the card front.  I was going to throw it away but then I saw a sketch that used multiple sizes of circles.

     I was inspired to die cut several circles from the nice part of the background.

     I dry embossed lines every inch along the front of the card and the sentiment fit pretty nicely between the lines.  I'm not happy that the ribbon shows the circle shape underneath it.  Other than that I really like the card.

     I think there is a lesson to be learned here: salvage what you can when you mess up a card front whether it is just a terrible smudge or an idea that didn't work out.  Die cut what ever shapes you can from the salvageable parts and use them in a new way.

My Oldest Daughter Turns 18!

     My daughter's birthday is tomorrow and she loves the Fall.  She loves EVERYTHING about the fall . The pumpkins, the fall themed foods, Halloween, and the beautiful colored leaves.  As I drove her to Community College a few days ago we saw a fox darting through campus.

Love Those Flowers

     I just love the flowering branches by Clearly Besotted that we used for our practice sheets in the Online Card Classes Copics for Card Makers class.  I don't know the name of the stamp set it came from because it seems to have been retired-at least I can't find it online.

     We were taught several ways to color them . I previously posted another card that I colored as if the sun was shining directly onto it, however, these were colored as if the sun was shining down from the upper left, and they were colored with more vibrant colors. 

     I also colored the mats behind the focal points with matching Copic markers.  I also added white gel pen to the centers to bring out the detail.  The sentiment is from Hampton Art KI Memories Greetings.
